Conveniently located just minutes from uptown Charlotte! Tired of a long commute? Stressed out over traffic? Worry no more! The Park at Oaklawn is located just 2 miles from Epicenter in Uptown Charlotte!
In 2004 the Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) received a $34.7 million HOPE VI Grant, which served as a catalyst for the Park at Oaklawn project.
After the demolition of the 410 dilapidated, barracks style units built in 1942, the Housing Partnership selected Saussy Burbank Homes to market and construct the sub-division. These beautiful homes have a distinctive craftsman-style look that blends with the architectural style of the family apartments. The one, two, and three-story homes range from 1,244 to 2,161 square feet and have front porches, nine-foot ceilings, and optional features such as gas fireplaces and garages.
The 83-unit Anita Stroud Senior Complex was developed by The Housing Partnership in partnership with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Centers.
Additionally, a 28,000 sq. ft. community resource center includes a gymnasium, computer lab, meeting space and classrooms.
The Park at Oaklawn is now a seamless neighborhood consisting of 178 family apartments, 83 one-bedroom elderly apartments, 71 single-family homes and a community center. The 71 single-family homes development received the 2005 Housing North Carolina Award from the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency for its exemplary real estate development.
